Why are my tweets not showing up in search?
A search ban hides your tweets, and in the more severe cases your account itself, from X search results, for everyone, including people who already follow you. You can check it yourself: open a second account, since X blocks most search for logged-out visitors, and run from:yourhandle in the Latest tab. Why is my account not searchable?
"Not searchable" usually points to one of two different restrictions. A search suggestion ban only hides your account from the dropdown suggestions when someone types your name; your posts still turn up in actual search results. A search ban is the more severe one described above: your posts vanish from search results entirely. Running the from: check settles which one, if either, applies.
How do I check a search ban manually, without any tool?
The from: search operator makes this the easiest restriction to verify, as long as you test from outside your own session. Use a second account that does not follow you: X has walled off search for logged-out visitors, so a private window will mostly show you a sign-in prompt.
- Sign in with a second account that does not follow you.
- In the search box, type from:yourhandle (with your actual handle) and run the search.
- Switch to the Latest tab.
- If the account has recent public posts but the search returns nothing at all, that is a search ban. Cross-check with one unique phrase from a recent post: zero results again confirms it.
How long does a search ban last?
No official duration exists. Community reports range from several days to several weeks, longer than suggestion bans, and the ban can persist as long as the flagged behavior continues. Protected (private) accounts are excluded from search by design: that is not a ban.
