How long does each X restriction last?

According to community reports, each restriction has its own range:

• Search suggestion ban: tends to clear the fastest, at a few days to two weeks.
• Search ban: usually runs longer, from days to several weeks.
• Ghost ban: sits in that same range. The masking applies when a thread is read, so even old replies can vanish during the restriction and reappear once it lifts.
• Reply deboosting: the hardest to time of the four. It is a ranking penalty rather than a removal, and reports describe it fading gradually more often than lifting all at once.

These are patterns across many accounts, not a forecast for yours.

What does X's published code say about duration?

X's own published code writes an exact timer on some paths, and none on others. The timers it writes:

• 7 days on two report-based paths (one label on the post, one on the account), on one pinned-link account label and on two sensitive-content aggregation labels.
• 14 or 30 days on some reply-flagging paths.
• 30 days on some policy-violation paths.

Duplicate-content flags, along with several other paths, carry no timer at all.

A timer like these resets if the same trigger fires again. The code does not expose one for every path, so an absent number does not prove a restriction is permanent.

A public check cannot show which label applies to your account, when it was written, or whether X is waiting on a step from you. Follow any instructions and waiting period shown in your own notice.

What makes an X shadowban last longer?

Neither ongoing symptoms nor a stable score prove that an internal timer restarted. To look for what may be extending the restriction:

1. Check whether X is waiting for a verification or another step from you.
2. Review the specific pattern you can observe, such as repeated promotional messages or unwanted automation.
3. Keep relevant links and dates.
4. Make a deliberate change.
5. Compare the next checks.

Deleting all your posts, mass-unfollowing or abandoning the account briefly is not an established shortcut.

How do you know when it lifts?

Read any notice from X, then compare the same visibility checks over time. A passing result confirms the surface tested at that moment. Different posts and viewing contexts can produce different results, so record both the dates and what was checked.
