Why are my replies hidden under "Show more replies"?
That is reply deboosting by definition: X ranks the reply below the default cutoff, so it only surfaces once someone taps Show more replies. How do I check reply deboosting manually, without any tool?
Deboosting only shows in the default (most relevant) sort, which is what the overwhelming majority of readers see. That is where to look, from a second account that does not follow you: X walls off most logged-out views.
- Find a recent reply of yours in a conversation with a healthy number of replies.
- Open the conversation from a second account that does not follow you, in the default sort.
- Scroll the visible replies: if yours consistently sits at the very bottom, or only appears after tapping Show more replies, while replies with less engagement rank above it, your replies are being deboosted.
- Cross-check on 2 or 3 different conversations before concluding: a single low ranking can just be the algorithm.
How long does reply deboosting last?
As with every X restriction there is no announced duration, and deboosting is the murkiest of the four: it can be account-wide or vary per conversation. Reports describe anything from days to weeks. Because it is a ranking penalty rather than a removal, it can also fade gradually instead of lifting at once.
